Matadors' Basketball Update - July 18

​Got a chance to stop by the first day of off-season workouts for CSUN, at The Matadome. CSUN finished 13-21 in 2018-19, 7-9 in Big West play, and played in the post season CBI, where they lost to Utah Valley.
The Matadors return All-Conference First Teamer, Terrell Gomez, and 2019 Big West Player of the Year, Lamine Diane.  Head Coach Mark Gottfried enters his 2nd year in Northridge.  The Matadors open 2019-20 at home, on November 5th.

First day of unofficial workouts at CSUN, Terrell Gomez, Darius Brown II and Alex Sokol all played "Around the World" against Mo Williams. Young guys didn't embarrass themselves, but Mo still pretty cold-blooded. New 3FG distance wasn't bothering anyone, tho.

Last few weeks, some current and former NBAers have been playing pickup games at The Matadome. Little Birdie told me today, that Lamine Diane has more than held his own against them. FWIW.

Got my first look at Festus Ndumanya, and came away impressed. Freshman from Capo Valley Christian is raw, but relentless. Really competes. If hoops doesn't work out, could easily see him lining up at TE for Chip Kelly at UCLA.
