Chargers' Rookie QB Justin Herbert blindsided the Saints at home, with three first-half touchdown passes. Herbert was named starting QB for the Chargers last week, after stepping in for injured Tyrod Taylor in Week 2.
Old friend Keenan Singleton, chimed in with a tweet about how Justin's last name would be pronounced down in the Big Easy, triggering our memory of this classic George Costanza exchange, involving another Bayou QB.
Last Week: 3-0
Atlanta -3 vs. Chicago
The Falcons collapsed big-time last week in Big D, losing late on a FG. Back home this week, playing a Bears team that's riding high, after opening the season with two wins. Fortunes reverse this week, it's the NFL, so the bounces eventually even out, and both Falcons and Bears should move to the mean this week.
Packers +3 at New Orleans
The Saints come off a loss in Las Vegas on Monday Night, and have to deal with the Packers on a short week. Aaron Rodgers maybe without Davante Adams, who'll be a game time decision. There should be plenty of fire power for Rodgers, who's thrown for 604 yards and 6 TD in the first two weeks. Aaron Jones had a big win last week in a game against Detroit.
Broncos +6 vs. Tampa Bay
You know I love the home dogs. Everything says Denver is dead to rights in this one. They're struggling, they're banged up, and they're playing Tom Brady! They've got the Bucs right where they want them. Look for an ugly, punchy game, which the Bucs pull out late, maybe with Rob Gronkowski making a play, but the Broncos should be able to play around the number, at home.
You know I love the home dogs, so this week, I picked three. Hopefully they'll be the ones barking this weekend, so I won't have to on Monday Night.
Dolphins and Bills always tend to play close games, Josh Allen pulls this one out late, but the underdog Dolphins keep it close and cover.
Chargers open at the new SoFi Stadium in Carson, getting eight and a half. With no fans, they avoid the media narrative about their sparse LA support. They'll do just enough to stay within a TD of the Chiefs, who'll have an extended layoff.
It's Monday night, and it's the Raiders plus six, in the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Look for a track meet against Drew Brees and the Saints. Fully expect the Silver & Black to cover, and wouldn't be surprised if they pulled this one out.
Miami (+5.5) vs. Buffalo
Los Angeles Chargers (+8.5) vs. Kansas City
Las Vegas (+6) vs. New Orleans
